Vibrio vulnificus

Foodborne illnesses caused by Vibrio vulnificus can result in mild gastrointestinal symptoms in healthy individuals, but can also lead to severe non-gastrointestinal complications (systemic infection/sepsis) in susceptible individuals or those with pre-existing chronic conditions. In addition, skin infections may occur through pre-existing wounds when handling the products.
