EU Funding
EFSA Funding
To support its mission, EFSA commissions scientific services from institutions and experts across the EU. These activities are carried out through competitive calls for tenders and calls for proposals, enabling EFSA to access high‑quality expertise and deliver independent, evidence‑based assessments.
Grants
EFSA regularly awards grants or subsidies for projects and activities that contribute to EFSA’s mission in the areas of data collection, preparatory work for scientific opinions, other scientific and technical assistance.
Only competent organisations, based on designations by Member States, are eligible to apply for a call.

Procurement
EFSA buys services and supplies through public procurement calls, in line with EU legislation and the basic principles of transparency, equal treatment and non-discrimination, widest competition, proportionality and sound financial management. Also organisations which are not part of the List of Competent Organisations are eligible to apply.

Horizon Europe
Luxinnovation is the National Contact Point for Horizon Europe and the first port of call for Luxembourg organisations interested in applying for Horizon Europe funding or working on on-going projects. The National Contact Point team supports throughout the entire application process and during the lifetime of the project. The European Commission provides further information on the funding programme as well as more specifically on the Cluster 6: Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment.
Innovation Fund
The Innovation Fund supports innovative projects that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing Europe's transition to a low-carbon economy. Grants are awarded through regular calls.
Digital Europe Programme
The DIGITAL funding includes €1 billion for ensuring the wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society amongst others to support
- high impact deployments in areas of public interest, such as health and Green Deal
- the uptake of advanced digital and related technologies by the industry, notably SMEs
- European public administrations and industry to deploy and access state of-the-art digital technologies.
COST
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding organisation for research and innovation networks. COST does not fund basic research itself but activities like workshops, conferences, training schools, Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) or dissemination activities.
National Funding
Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture
The ministry and the Service agri-environnement, recherche et innovation are committed to strengthening the links between science and agriculture, in order to transfer research knowledge more quickly and efficiently into the agricultural, food and viticulture sectors. Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR)
The Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) is the main funder of research activities in Luxembourg, investing public funds and private donations into research projects across various branches of science. An overview of the different funding intruments is available on the website.
Luxinnovation
Luxinnovation is a central player in the Luxembourg innovation landscape and helps Luxembourg companies enhance their competitiveness through research and innovation and facilitate and accelerate the development of a digitally enabled and sustainable economy.
