Sterigmatocystin

Sterigmatocystin (STC) is a mycotoxin whose biosynthetic pathway is similar to that of aflatoxins. Its acute oral toxicity is relatively low, and the liver and kidneys are its target organs. Following metabolic activation, STC is mutagenic in bacterial and mammalian cells.
