Salmonella

Salmonella can cause symptoms such as lack of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, fever and lethargy after consumption by fragile animals (very young, old, weakened). In healthy animals, salmonella generally causes few or no symptoms. When an animal has eaten the product concerned and is showing these symptoms, its owner is invited to consult a veterinarian and report the consumption.

In the absence of symptoms, animals can be healthy carriers of salmonellosis, i.e. excrete Salmonella in their faeces without becoming ill.

There is therefore a risk of contamination via the faeces of the animal that consumed the product or directly via the contaminated feed for anyone in contact with the animal or feed concerned.
